Eleftheria Jensen (Leone)
Born in Gladstone, QLD, Australia, 1961.
I work primarily with acrylic paints.
My influences are Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet.
In 1996, I obtained a Diploma in Arts (Fine Arts),
at the Southern Sydney Institute TAFE.
Although my primal painting style was impressionism,
I now find myself focusing more on abstract and working
with mediums because of the many options they offer.
I love manipulating with different colours and textures in
order to alter specific characteristics of the paint, which is
exactly what I want to create on canvas.
Most probably due to where I grew up in Australia, I am artistically inspired by nature, being surrounded by the sea and the countless rainforests, unintendedly I often find myself portraying the offing, which is the part of the sea that "touches" the horizon, in most of my paintings, whether it being Impressionism or Abstract.
Since finishing my education, I have sold my paintings made to order and commissioned. The short time we lived in Ilulissat (Jakobshavn), Greenland, I excepted a commissioned project from IluIissat Airport, to paint five 200x80 cm individual paintings, I focused on relating all five paintings to the Greenlandic wildlife, nature, and scenery, to my delight I recently found out that after 24 years they are still hanging there.
I’ve been painting on & off over the years, not as much as I would have liked though. For the past couple of years, I have been painting more intensively, there are a few reasons for that, I have more time on my hands since my two daughters moved away from home, I don’t have a fulltime job anymore, I have accomplished the Danish language and I have adjusted, adapted and integrated as well as I can into the Danish society.
I live with my husband in beautiful Silkeborg, we are surrounded by some of the most beautiful nature, no surprise!
